Jeff Swoboda has served as Elgin’s Chief of Police since April, 2010. He joined the department more than 20 years ago, service as a ROPE (Resident Officer Program of Elgin) officer, working his way up to leading each of the department's three bureaus as deputy chief.
Swoboda, who lives with his wife in Elgin, earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Aurora University and a master's in law enforcement administration from Western Illinois University. He also holds a certificate of graduate studies in public administration from Northern Illinois University and an MBA from North Central College.
