WIM Fox Valley (WIM) kicks off its new year of speakers onThursday, September 10, 2015 with Illinois State Representative Anna Moeller, 43rd District.
The luncheon will be held at the Elgin Country Club, 2575 Weld Road, Elgin with networking at 11:30 a.m., luncheon and program at noon. Reservations must be made for attendance online at _______________
Led by moderator and WIM member Nancy Guthrie, president, Business Matters in Elgin, Moeller will discuss current issues in Springfield and their impact on families and businesses and her background and interest in government leadership.
As state representative, Moeller’s goal is to focus on job creation and retention by working to create a friendlier business climate in Illinois. Mindful of the state’s budget challenges, she will work diligently to make sure that the state lives within its means, pays its bills, and protects our most important services, such as resources for local schools, from drastic cuts. As part of her effort to lead by example, State Representative Moeller declined a taxpayer-funded legislative pension and is a co-sponsor of legislation cutting lawmakers pay.
Moeller has served as the Executive Director of the McHenry County Council of Governments since 2005 and was elected Councilwoman for the City of Elgin in 2011. She has over 15 years of experience working in local government management, budgeting and planning. Before her career in local government, she served as Legislative Aide for former Illinois State Representative Andrea S. Moore, 61st District, Legislative Intern for former Congressman John Porter, 10th Illinois District in Washington D.C. and English as a Second Language Instructor for the Inlingua International Language School in Andorra La Vella, Europe.
Moeller has also served on the Elgin Planning and Development Commission, Elgin Human Relations Commission, Vice-President of Imagine McHenry County, as Vice-President of the Northeast Neighborhood Association of Elgin, Channing Elementary School PTO Treasurer and as an English as a Second Language Tutor for the Literacy Connection.
“Our WIM members are successful entrepreneurs, managers, and dedicated community volunteers,” said Ramona ‘Monie’ Burns, this year’s 2015-16 WIM Fox Valley president. “We look forward to hearing Representative Moeller and her experiences at the State Capital in Springfield, Illinois.”
Burns is owner of MoMo’s Concierge Services in Elgin, which provides harmony, security and freedom at home and work through a variety of personal and professional services.
Burns added, “We look forward to an exciting year of speakers and topics that will enrich our members and their businesses. We warmly welcome guests to attend our meetings to find out more about WIM Fox Valley.”
